Welcome to Marion County Parks and Recreation Commission (MCPARC)!

Our mission here at MCPARC is to provide you with quality park and recreation areas for all of your leisure activities.

From today's forecast to upcoming events, we wish to extend our mission through the MCPARC website by providing you with all of the information you need on our park and recreation areas.

  • Curtisville Lake Campground

MCPARC offers primitive and RV camping at the 700-acre Curtisville Lake. Newly built campgrounds are adjacent to a 70-acre lake with new bathroom facilities, playground and picnic shelter. Over 4 miles of walking and biking trails surround the lake that is approximately a 15 minute drive from downtown Mannington.

  • Fido's Backyard

As of May 31, 2010, MCPARC is pleased to announce that the first dog park in Marion County has opened! Thanks to FIDO, (Fairmont Interested Dog Owners) there is now a four acre off-leash area dedicated to the dogs and their owners for their enjoyment.  The new park, titled FIDO’s Backyard, features a double gated entry, separate fenced-in areas for smaller dogs and larger dogs, benches, a wooded area, and a nearby picnic area.

FIDO’s Backyard is located at the north end of East Marion Park near Pavilion #5, just past the basketball courts. Follow the Dog Park signs for more convenient parking. Pet owners are asked to please clean up after and take full responsibility of your pet.
    About FIDO:

FIDO is a group of dog owners formed in Fairmont, West Virginia, in order to develop dog parks in the Fairmont and surrounding Marion County areas. We hope to provide recreational areas for dog owners and their pets as well as promote dog-friendly activities in our community.
